ScarfHop

About ScarfHop

ScarfHop tells the stories behind surprising traditions, festivals and customs from around the world, in short animated videos and the illustrated stories that go with them. Made for curious kids, families and classrooms.

HOP and YUKI

Meet HOP
A curious traveler in a mustard hoodie and a red scarf. He always has a confident guess about how a country celebrates, and he is usually wrong. In every country a local friend, like YUKI in Japan, explains what really happens and why.

How we make ScarfHop

🔎 Research firstEvery story starts with the facts. We check them against official and reputable sources and list those sources on every story page.
🤝 Respect for every cultureWe say “surprising”, never “weird”. Traditions are explained with their history and meaning, and we don’t pretend a custom is something everyone does when it isn’t.
🎨 Made with AI tools, checked by peopleOur characters, animation and voices are created with the help of AI tools. Scripts, fact-checks and the final edit are reviewed by a person before anything is published.
🧒 Family-friendlyShort, kind and fun to watch together, at home or in class. Free printables for teachers are on the way.
Shoaib Jan, creator of ScarfHop
The person behind HOP

Hi, I’m Shoaib Jan.

I make ScarfHop. I pick each tradition, read trusted sources about it, write the script and check every fact before a video or story goes live. HOP and YUKI are animated with AI tools, but the research and fact-checking are done by me.
